There's been some confusion over what's "new" about this 1.0b1 release of Conversant. So, please allow a brief clarification.

Conversant has been available only via Macrobyte's hosting service (or a consulting agreement between Macrobyte and another company). There has never been a release of the software before 1.0b1 was released. We've been working on it for three years, without ever releasing the software to the development community (or to anyone else, really).

Another point of confusion was the designation of this release as 1.0b1, instead of 1.0. The truth is that Conversant is more than ready to be called 1.0 (or even 2.0), but it lacks one critical element: extensive documentation. We're working on that now, and version 1.0 will include user, server admin, and developer documentation... at least on the essentials.
